Neal Casal‘s debut record, Fade Away Diamond Time, was released in 1995 to much critical acclaim. Produced by Jim Scott (Wilco, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash) and recorded with a stellar cast of players, in a sprawling mansion in the hills of Santa Ynez, California, the album introduced the intimate songwriting and lyrical guitar work that would become the foundation of his career.

In between recording and touring with other artists such as Beachwood Sparks, Hard Working Americans, Lucinda Williams and, obviously, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Chris Robinson & The Brotherhood – two bands he was a founding member of -, Casal managed to lead a rich and solid solo career.

Since its original release in September of 1995, Fade Away Diamond Time has become a cult classic and will finally be re-issued on vinyl and deluxe CD-book for its 25th anniversary in 2020. It will be released in the U.S. through Record Store Day and in Europe, on the new reissue imprint Not Fade Away Recording Co. Pre-orders have officially started, get your copy here.
Initialement sorti en septembre 1995, Fade Away Diamond Time fut loué par la presse mais, pour des raisons de business – le label Zoo fut dissous et dilué dans BMG – ne rencontra pas un succès public et reste largement méconnu. Avec le temps pourtant, l’album est devenu un classique culte qui bénéficiera enfin d’une sortie digne de ce nom le 23 octobre 2020 sur le tout nouveau label de réédition, Not Fade Away Recording Co.
L’album sera disponible dans deux versions, un double-vinyle 180g pressé chez Pallas en Allemagne, et un CD-book imprimé par Pozzoli en Italie. L’album a été remasterisé pour l’occasion et l’artwork enrichi. Pour le précommander, c’est ici.
